It has come to a time for a need to know some dialect. There will be one coming up event on the 22nd of October, it will be our first and foremost lesson on speaking and understanding Hokkien language. It will come in handy when we meet up with elderly in doing future community projects.

Rotaract History Worldwide 40 years

Dear Rotaractors, fellow members of the Family of Rotary,

Rotaract will soon be 40 years young and so there is 40 years of
Rotaract history out in the world, some of it written down, some of it
in the minds of Rotaractors and past Rotaractors waiting to be shared
with others.

Could you write a history of your Rotaract Club or Rotaract District?
If not, do you know another Rotarator or past Rotaractor who could do
this?

Which are the oldest Rotaract Clubs? When was your club chartered?

The Rotary Global History Fellowship already has some 3,000 pages of
Rotary History and now wishes to include the History of each Rotaract
Club and District. Some project! The RGHF project started only a few
years ago with the aim of recording the history of the first 50 Rotary
Clubs. Have a look at the site to see what has already been started on
Rotary.
http://www.rotaryhistoryfellowship.org/index.htm

The Rotaract page is
at: http://www.rotaryfirst100.org/library/organizations/rotoract.htm

but lots more Rotaract History is needed to make the site as good for
Rotaract as it already is for Rotary

Rotaractors can also join the RGHF at:
http://www.rotaryfirst100.org/index.htm

Please share this request for Rotaract History with your felow members,
clubs in your district, and other Rotaractors and past Rotaractors you
know.

I look forward to hearing from you.
With kind regards,
Yours in Rotary and Rotaract Service
Tim

D1070 Rotaract Officer 2006-2008,

    Alternative Beats

    Alternative Beats

It is a workshop conducted by Amit Gilboa, an experienced drummer of Middle Eastern percussion. There will be introduction and different rhythmic styles of these instruments in various music genres. This program allows us to learn the art of music and explore in this area which not many have ever experienced or tried before.

In the world of music, many people deemed that by listening to music alone makes themselves feel appreciative on the genres of music, however, there has been an area which was being forgotten and lost. This area is the experience, exploration and interaction with music in another dimension rarely mentioned to anyone in our life.

This course alone can provide to fulfill experience, exploration, interaction and further appreciation to this romantic vision of a lost world of music. Many, people knows how to listen to music, but do not know how to make them, thus it is equally important that we should learn this and explore the other side of our talents. Who knows maybe after this course, some of us are interested into percussions and started a career in percussion music making? There is no certainty but opportunity for us to try out.

    Event: Alternative Beats
    Venue: Esplanade
    Date: 22 July 2007
    Time: 11am-12.30pm (90 min)
Meeting venue: City Hall MRT at 10.30am
