World Kindness Day

>> Friday, November 13, 2009

Hey Rotaractors,

How's your school life? Has it been hectic or slack as usual? Have you started rushing for your projects or waiting until the very last moment to push yourself?

Do you know that today (13 November 2009) is a very special day? Did you see people giving yellow daisy to each other or that your friend suddenly "ambush" you by giving you a big hug and say "Thank You"? Did you hear the news this morning about some volunteers giving daisy at MRT stations?

Yup! Today is World Kindness Day. The purpose of today is to look beyond ourselves, beyond the boundaries of our country, beyond our culture, our race, our religion; and realise we are citizens of the world. While we may think of people from other cultures as being ‘different’ when we compare them with our own customs and beliefs, it doesn’t mean that we are any better than they are. When we become friends with someone from a different culture we discover that despite some obvious differences, there are many similarities.

Well, why not take this chance to say "Thank You" to someone who has made a difference in your life or maybe just your friends or family members whom you feel gratitude towards to? Send them an e-card @ http://www.123greetings.com/aff-bin/card/1/103714 or simply message them to say "Thank You".

Let's make today an enjoyable and meaningful day~! Spread the love and kindness around you and not only does you make other people's day, you'll certainly brighten up your day too!

"People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning for life. I don’t think that’s what we’re really seeking. I think that what we’re seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonances within our own innermost being and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive." - Joseph Campbell

May you enjoy this very special day.
